Ukraine: prices of imported fruits and vegetables up
Imported fruits and vegetables have already become 10-15% more expensive in Ukraine this week, according to Fruit-Inform.
The price growth is connected with unstable Ukrainian hryvnia to US dollar exchange rate observed in Ukraine due to unrest in the country. In particular, the exchange rate was fixed at UAH 8.54 per $1 last Friday and reached UAH 8.70 per $1 on Monday, January 27. In connection with that, importers calculated their prices on the basis of the rate of UAH 8.75 per $1, and the rate of UAH 10 per $1 was taken into account by those companies which use a significant delay in payments.
At the same time, the official exchange rate of National Bank of Ukraine still stands at UAH 7.99 per $1.
More detailed information about the exchange rate's impact on the Ukrainian market for potatoes and vegetables as well as other market information will be presented at the 6th International Conference “Potatoes & Vegetables of Ukraine-2014”, which will be held on February 20, 2014, President Hotel, Kiev, Ukraine.
