Fourth week of price growth in Ukrainian fresh produce market

Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index grew by 2.1% in the week from February 8th to 14th, after an increase of 6.6% a week before. In such a way, the fresh produce price index has already become 10.5% higher over the past 4 weeks.

“The fruit and vegetable price growth was connected with instability in the currency market, which especially impacted the cucumber and tomato segments in Ukraine”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “At the same time, prices of traditional vegetables (onions, white cabbage, carrots, table beets) and potatoes remained extremely high, reflecting tense situation with the supply of high-quality vegetables of Ukrainian origin”.

Citrus fruits became slightly less expensive last week, while banana prices grew. The sharpest price growth rate was registered in the tomato segment: up by 23.6%. Cucumbers became 4.8% more expensive. Prices of traditional vegetables changed slightly week-on-week.
