Russia: prices of Chinese apples up month-on-month in Moscow
The Russian market participants say of a month-on-month increase in prices of Chinese apples in Moscow.
In particular, current prices vary between 0.82-0.93 euro/kg, depending on quality and shipment volume, an increase of 11-12% compared with the beginning of June 2014. Fuji variety now accounts for the majority of offered Chinese apples in Moscow.
Nevertheless, despite an increase in prices, Chinese produce is still averagely 12% less expensive compared with the same period of the previous year.
We would remind you that China is the fourth largest supplier of apples to the Russian Federation in the current season with only Poland, Moldova and Serbia exporting more. In the period from July 2013 to May 2014, Russia purchased 86,000 tons of Chinese apples, a decrease of 23% year-on-year.
