Moscow: prices of Argentinean apples up month-on-month
Argentinean apples have become averagely 8% more expensive in Moscow, Russia, over a month.
Russian traders now offer Cripps Pink apples at 0.93-1.03 euro/kg, depending on quality and shipment volume. Meanwhile, Fuji apples of Argentinean origin are sold at 0.95-0.99 euro/kg in Moscow.
It should be noted that Argentina has significantly reduced its presence in the Russian market in the current season. According to the official statistics, in July 2013 – May 2014, Russia purchased just 8,500 tons of Argentinean apples. Thus, Argentina was just the 13th largest supplier of apples to the Russian Federation, after ranking 7th a season before. Meanwhile, Poland, Moldova and Serbia are the top three largest exporters.
