Iran plans to set a new record in production and exports of apples, says Mr. Ali Mohseni, Director of Department of Production of Temperate Fruits, Nuts and Dried Fruits at Ministry of Jihad-e-Agriculture of Iran.
According to his forecasts, Iran will produce more than 3.4 mln tons of apples in the current year with 600,000 tons of those volumes to be exported. As a result, both production and exports of apples are expected to reach record high.
Mr. Mohseni also noted that Iran has already exported 169,000 tons of apples worth at $73 mln in the first eighth months of the current marketing year (Mar 21 - Nov 21, 2014), an increase of 54% year-on-year in the export volumes.
