Crimea, Ukraine: prices of early onions fall to last year's levels
The Crimean market participants say of a decline in prices of early onions, and now growers are ready to ship their produce at last year's levels, according to Fruit-Inform daily price monitoring.
In particular, farmers offer early onions at RUB 21-25/kg (USD 0.34-0.41/kg), depending on quality, a decrease of 16-17% week-on-week. Growers are forced to reduce prices in view of a seasonal increase in local supply. In addition, the market participants say of availability of Turkish and Egyptian early produce, which prices are averagely a third lower than those fixed for local early onions.
Moreover, the market analysts are sure that prices will only keep on decreasing in Crimea against a background of growing supply there.
