Ukraine: apple prices rapidly grow in Khmelnytskyi
Despite the Ukrainian season of early apples having started in the previous week, prices of last year's crop continue to grow at Dubovo Wholesale Market, Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine.
For the present, apple prices vary between UAH 20-25/kg (USD 0.84-1.05/kg), depending on quality and variety, against often going down to UAH 16/kg a week ago.
Positive price trend is connected with high demand for apples in Ukraine against a background of rapidly decreasing stocks.
It should also be noted that prices in the UAH equivalent are 70-90% higher year-on-year in Khmelnytskyi, while the price levels in the USD equivalent have fallen by 10% compared with the same period of the previous season.
