Moldovan grape production down in 2015
Moldovan grape growers have almost finished their harvesting campaign, and, according to the latest data, the harvested volumes have amounted to 361,000 tons.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova reports that production of table grapes has totaled 88,000 tons, and the harvest of industrial varieties has amounted to 273,000 tons with about 240,000 tons having been already utilized for wine production.
Moldovan total grape production is expected to total 530,000-550,000 tons in 2015 against 594,000 tons in total in 2014 with 345,000 tons of them having been harvested by Moldovan households (85,000 tons of table grapes and 260,000 tons for processing).
According to the data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova, areas under vineyards amount to 140,000 ha in 2015 with 129,000 ha of them being in bearing stage.
