Polish blackcurrant production to fall sharply
Polish sector experts expect a significant fall in blackcurrant production this year.
Polish National Association of Blackcurrant Growers (KSPCP) expect domestic blackcurrant production to go down by 50-60% year-on-year and be no higher than 40,000 tons.
A fall in production volumes is connected with unfavorable weather conditions observed in Poland in the past few years. In addition, in view of moderate demand for blackcurrants and, thus, low profitability of blackcurrant production, farmers have to save on plant protection products, and this fact also negatively affects total production.
