Ukrainian exporters’ demand for early potatoes up
Ukrainian farmers say of rather active exports of early potatoes, according to Fruit-Inform. As a result, thanks to high demand shown by Ukrainian exporters, growers manage to raise their prices despite a seasonal increase in supply.
Early potatoes have become 23% more expensive in Ukraine over the past week. Now growers are ready to ship their early produce at UAH 7-9/kg (EUR 0.24-0.31/kg), depending on quality and variety. For comparison, a week before prices did not exceed UAH 7/kg.
It should also be noted that the price growth is backed by high demand shown by both Belarusian companies and Ukrainian domestic market wholesalers. As a result, current prices of early potatoes are 60-100% higher year-on-year.
