Ukrainian tomato exports up in August
Ukrainian tomato exports have grown significantly in August, according to Fruit-Inform.
The export volumes totaled 3,600 tons in August 2017, an increase of 20% compared with the same month of the previous year.
Meanwhile, despite a rise in exports in August, Ukraine’s cumulative export volumes in January-August 2017 were significantly lower year-on-year. In particular, they totaled 12,000 tons, a fall of 29% compared with January-August 2016.
The market analysts connect a decrease in exports with lower demand for Ukrainian tomatoes in their main export markets. Belarus was the main importer and reduced imports of tomatoes from Ukraine by 27% to 10,600 tons. Poland ranked second and imported slightly more than 1,000 tons of Ukrainian tomatoes, a fall of 42% year-on-year.
