Ukraine: garlic exports in first 3 months of current MY almost reach total volumes of whole season 2016/17
Ukraine has been increasing garlic exports for the 7th year in a row. As a result, the volumes exported in the first three months of the current MY have almost reached the total exports over the whole season 2016/17, according to Fruit-Inform.
In July-September 2017, Ukraine exported 180 tons of garlic (an increase of 29% year-on-year) against just 197 tons of exports over the whole previous season. Positive trend was backed by an increase in exports to the EU, which had imported 138 tons of garlic from Ukraine, 3.3 times as high as in the first three months of the season 2016/17.
Nevertheless, despite a rise in exports, Ukraine is still the net importer of garlic: in July-September 2017, the import volumes totaled 512 tons, with China accounting for 92% of them.
