"Khlib Ukrainy" finished mortgage purchases

State Joint-Stock Company "Khlib Ukrainy" (Bread of Ukraine) has finished its mortgage purchasing of grain. In total the company has bought 520,000 tonnes of grain, which is a little more than it was commissioned by government (500,000 tonnes), the company's Head of Board Viktor Bondarenko informed on September 2.

He stated that payment had been maid for almost all of the amount, with the exception of 56,000 tonnes. He assured that the farmers were going to receive the complete payment until September 10.

As regards the structure of the purchases, Bondarenko said that 50 percent of the amount bought had been feed barley, 30 percent - wheat and 20 percent - rye. In particular, the company bought 100,000 tonnes of 3rd and 4th class wheat.

Bondarenko said that this year mortgage purchases had begun quite late and therefore they did not succeed in supporting grain prices at the beginning of harvest. In view of this, next year the mortgage purchasing season will begin earlier than that - before July 1, or even possibly since June 1.
