"Khlib Ukrainy" to export 1 mln t of agricultural commodities in 2004/05 MY

Ukraine's state-run grain market operator company - State JSC "Khlib Ukrainy" (Bread of Ukraine) is planning to export 1 million tonnes of agricultural commodities in 2004/05 marketing year, the company's Head of Board Viktor Bondarenko said on September 2 during a press conference.

According to him, the most massive exports are planned for September-December 2004. During this period the company is about to export 500,000 to 600,000 tonnes of feed grains, of which there will be 80 percent of barley and 20 percent of wheat. Besides, since the beginning of 2005 the company intends to start exporting maize, sunseeds and peas.

As for export destinations, Bondarenko said that wheat and barley would mostly go to Asian region in general, peas - predominantly to Pakistan.

The crops are expected to be traded mostly on FOB and CPT-port basis. The company also examines a possibility of transacting on CIF basis.

Bondarenko said that price fluctuations were of little concern for the company, as most of its contracts were long-term ones.

The executive also said that company's experts continued getting hold of export grain markets, with a possibility of taking part in state grain supply tenders in some foreign countries in the future.
