Construction of vegoil shipment complex is nearing completion in Kherson

In late October this year the Kherson-based company "Khersones" (the city and port Kherson is located in southern Ukraine, at the estuary of Dnepr River) is planning to complete construction of a facility for transhipment of crude sunflower oil with 20,000-tonne storage capacity, the company's General Director Olexandr Sabelko has informed.

He said at the current moment the construction works were nearing completion at the ship berth, truck parking area and railway sidings (construction of railtank oil collector).

The facility includes four 5-tonne storage tanks, 400-metre long oil pipelines and pumping equipment.

The product is going to be stored in the tanks for no more than 20-25 days. "Long-time storage is not being planned, because it is economically unprofitable", said Sablenko.

He said that rated transhipment capacity of the complex was 834 tonnes per day or 25,000 tonnes a month. The cost of transhipment per tonne is projected within the range of $5.5 to 5.7.

The facility will be able to serve the "river-sea" class vessels with up to 10,000 tonnes of displacement. The first shipment of oil is about to be handled since October 1.

The construction is being carried out on the territory of the former Kherson brewing plant. The total worth of the project is about $2 million.
