Root plants are cheapening under influence of supply increase
Past week on Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market the further price decrease was observed as a result of harvesting process, so the preliminary forecast about good harvest has been confirmed.
Average potato price decreased on another USD $ 0.009/kg past week and as a result it is now about USD $ 0.07-0.08/kg. It is worth mentioning that potato prices differed much in various regions. The higher price was observed in oblasts close to main consumer centers, which are Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Odesa, Kyiv and Lugansk oblasts of Ukraine, and AR Crimea. At the same time potato prices went down to USD $ 0.04-0.05/kg in oblasts remote from consumer centers and in oblasts with traditional potato overproduction, as Volyn oblast. One of the reasons for it was transportation expenses increase in line with fuel and lubricants price growth.
Red beets cheapened in average on USD $ 0.009-0.01/kg - i.e. it is sold on USD $ 0.1-0.09/kg; carrot cheapened on USD $ 0.008-0.009/kg, it is sold for price up to USD $ 0.13/kg. Red beets price remained nearly unchangeable past week.
