The acreage of peach orchards will be extended in Odesa oblast.
To the opinion of Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP) specialists in Odesa there are some presuppositions for a sufficient acreage extension under fruiting peach orchards during next 3-5 years. It is caused by an increased and constantly growing demand on peaches both from the fresh market and the processing enterprises sides of this region and Ukraine in the whole. At present moment this demand is not fully satisfied that creates some good alternatives for a profitable business.
This year was especially profitable for Odesa farmers cause frosts in Crimea have killed nearly all peach harvest, and in Odesa oblast peach orchards have nearly not suffered from frosts.
Many of the farmers - peach producers used the advantages of this situation rather quickly; they are planning right now to extend their peach orchards or to establish new ones.
