Brazil hopes Russia will lift restrictions for import of its meat
Brazil hopes Russia in the nearest time will resume purchases of Brazilian meat in full volume, Brazil's Agriculture Minister Robertu Rodrigues said November 29.
He said Russian experts had completed sanitary inspection in his country and were going to return to Moscow in the nearest time.
"I hope the problem will be solved", Rodrigues said.
Russian agriculture ministry imposed temporary limitations on imports of Brazilian meat in September this year, after a case of cattle murrain was registered in one of the farms of northern state of Amazonas.
Last week Russia permitted imports of meat from southern state of Santa Catarina, which supplies to Russia 31 percent of chicken meat and 43 percent of pork. However, limitations on the scale of the entire country have not been lifted up to now. According to local companies, the limitations inflict a $4 million worth of losses per day.
