95 pc of winter crops areas are in good condition

According to the data of winter crops examinations, which were carried out by meteorological stations at the end of November, 95 percent of areas out of 7.44 million hectares of winter crops are in good and fair state, Ukrainian Centre for Hydro-Meteorology (weather centre) has informed. These plantings are capable of yielding a rather high crop (average and higher than average), the specialists of the centre said.

The winter crops had entered the winter in an unsatisfactory state on 5 percent of the sown areas. Most of such areas (5 to 13 percent) are located in the Crimea, Lugansk, Odessa and Kherson oblasts. On such areas the density of plants is considerably lower than normal; the plants are on the initial stages of development. The destiny of these plantings will be completely dependent on wintering conditions.

The well developed and hardened plants, which accumulated 30 to 40 percent of sugar in stooling nodes, are prepared to winter best of all.

On the nearest days a relatively warm weather is expected in Ukraine. Precipitations are possible in the form of snow and rain. Such weather conditions will not produce negative effect on development of winter crops, said the specialists of weather centre.
