Crimea hopes for a good fruit harvest
As the specialists of Crimean office, Agricultural Marketing Project, reported, the regional farmers hope to have a good fruit harvest this year. At present moment many fruit trees, particularly almond, apricot, alycha are blooming; the weather forecast is rather favorable for the future period. To the expert's opinion, the frosts threat is decreasing day by day; still there is a certain risk of night frosts in the beginning of May.
We remind that past year the early fruit harvest was killed almost completely in Crimea because of April frosts. As a result, the fruit prices in this region were among the highest in Ukraine in the summer period, despite of the fact that Crimea is one of the traditional leaders of fruit production.
In 2005 the fruit harvest is expected later than the average perennial terms of ripening cause orchards started to bloom later than usual.
