The excessive supply of bulb onion go on pressing the prices
Yesterday we informed about the significant decrease of the average price on Ukrainian bulb onion on the wholesale markets of the country. Today, according to the data of the daily price monitoring, this trend was preserved on Kyiv wholesale market. The prices lowered on another USD $ 0.02/kg and comprised about USD $ 0.24/kg; the wholesale sets of this commodity could be purchased even cheaper.
We'd remind that past year, according to the data of Agricultural Marketing Project, the significant overproduction of onion was observed in Ukraine. It is obvious now that onion reserves of 2004 harvest will be enough till the new season start; moreover, the demand on this commodity will be decreasing in line with the start of supply of newly harvested early commodities. Exactly this fact, to the analysts' opinion, is the reason of wholesale price decrease on bulb onion at the present moment.
