Cold snap will not affect the fruit and vegetable market but is able to delay ripening

According to the information provided by Sergiy Gavryshev, the Market Information Specialist of Lviv office, Agricultural Marketing Project, at night of April 21st-22nd the frosts and sleet were observed in the region. However, the brief survey among the farmers proved that the deterioration of weather conditions won't influence much the fruit and vegetable commodities produced in the oblast.

Such weather situation could damage most of all early vegetables and fruit trees, but by April 22nd apples and pears have not bloomed out yet in Lviv oblast, and early vegetable commodities planted in the open ground was covered by agrofibre, so they have not suffered. The application of agrofibre in this case illustrated once more the advantages brought by the intensive technologies of vegetable production.

We'd note that at night of April 22nd-23rd the zero temperature was observed in Odesa oblast; however, according to the preliminary estimations, that weather situation won't affect significantly the fruit and vegetable yield. Still, cold snap may lead to the delay of early vegetable and berry ripening on some days.
