Price on radish drooped down abruptly in Kherson oblast

Today, on the 29th of April, the price on radish descended nearly twice comparing to the previous day on the market "Kopani", Kherson oblast. "Today is a "red" day on "Kopani" market - radish comprises more than a half of all the supplied commodities", says Roman Rybalko, the Price Monitoring Specialist of Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP) in Kherson oblast.

Yesterday's price on radish was USD $ 0.99-1.09/kg, today the price is not growing higher than USD $ 0.89/kg, and the greatest volumes of this commodity are sold on USD $ 0.69/kg.

To the opinion of R. Rybalko, this situation is initiated by the coming holidays: the main parties of radish should be purchased on Thursday for the pre-holiday trade by the wholesalers from the central and eastern regions of Ukraine, who are the main consumers of this commodity. In this regard on Thursday the boom demand on radish and, consequently, high prices were observed on market. Hoping for the high price, the producers form the southern region increased significantly the supply volumes on Friday; but this fact combined with the abruptly decreased demand and did not let the prices remain on the expected high level.

We'd mention that on the wholesale market "Farmer" in Kyiv radish was supplied today on USD $ 1.28/kg.
