The Ukrainian reserves run out of carrot
The prices of carrot have risen on 50-150% during this week, according to the results of the monitoring of retail prices on the Ukrainian markets carried out by the Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP). The highest price on carrot was recorded in Uzhgorod where the retail price on this commodity is about USD $ 0.99-1.58/kg. In Lviv, as well as in Crimea, carrot costs USD $ 0.59-0.99/kg. The lowest price is in Poltava where carrot in retail costs 0.39/kg.
Such situation, to the opinion of AMP specialists, is caused by the practically exhausted reserves of this crop; at the same time the supply of early carrot on Ukrainian markets is delayed by the cold weather in April and the beginning of May.
This week the price on carrot has risen on 70% in Kyiv too, where the wholesale price on this commodity was today USD $ 0.49-0.51/kg.
