A large set of Polish bulb onion has been supplied on Kyiv market
According to the information provided by Anatoliy Yarovoy, the Price Monitoring Specialist of Agricultural Marketing Project, today a significant supply increase of high-quality bulb onion of the past year harvest has been recorded on Kyiv wholesale market "Farmer". As the market players say, this onion was imported from Poland, it was supplied on USD $ 0.49-0.51/kg on Kyiv wholesale market. To the opinion of A. Yarovoy, bulb onion of Polish origin is of a splendid quality; at the same time as the supplied Ukrainian onion is starting to spring already.
As the Agricultural Marketing Project has already mentioned, the prices on onion are significantly lower in Poland than in Ukraine. For example, today the bulb onion can be bought on USD $ 0.12/kg on Warsaw wholesale market "Bronishe". The farmers sold the wholesale sets of this commodity even USD $ 0.02-0/04/kg cheaper.
We'll note that in the end of May past year in Ukraine the wholesale price on onion was nearly the same as at present time, about USD $ 0.51/kg. As soon as in the second half of June the price dropped down to USD $ 0.35-0.37/kg, when the first sets of bulb onion were harvested and supplied on Ukrainian market; in the beginning on July onion cost USD $ 0.19/kg.
