This year strawberry can be bought 25-35% cheaper than a year ago

This year the retail prices on strawberry remain lower than a year ago due to the significant growth of this commodity supply on markets. Past week an average retail price was within the limits of USD $ 0.98-1.58/kg, it was 25-35% lower than a year earlier.

We'll also mention that during this month the price on strawberry has decreased in 4-6 times; in Kyiv this commodity costs today about USD $ 0.98/kg in wholesale.

So, despite of the average price lowering, strawberry production in Ukraine is still considered to be a rather attractive business, as the self-cost of this commodity production is about USD $ 0.29-0.49/kg, according to the assessments made by the specialists of Agricultural Marketing Project.
