First peaches of local production are supplied to Odesa supermarkets
As the farmers-orchardists report, in the southern rayons of Odesa oblast first selecting picking of peach took place past week. First sets of local peach have already been supplied to the local supermarket chains; peach of Greece and Spain origin was offered there before on USD $ 2.76-2.96/kg.
According to the information provided by Valentina Kotsur, the Agronomist of Odesa office, Agricultural Marketing Project, in the whole the state of peach orchards is good in the oblast. Some producers experienced problems with early peach varieties cause mainly they were not able to follow the protection technology. The producers hope for a much larger gross yield of peach than a year ago when the orchards of many farmers were damaged by frosts.
