On Kyiv wholesale market cucumber shortage and tomato excess are observed
Tomato excess and cucumber deficit were simultaneously observed today on Farmer wholesale market located in Troeshchina residential area of Kyiv city. The alarm reports have been coming from the central regions of Ukraine about the cucumber damage by pests and diseases, now they are being confirmed.
According to the information provided by Alexander Skrebets, the Price Monitoring Specialist of the Agricultural Marketing Project, today's price on quality pickling cucumber raised up to USD 0.56-0.6/kg, and this commodity was rather hard to purchase. The farmers from the central regions of Ukraine offer this commodity in bulk out of the field on about USD 0.2/kg.
The experts can't talk about the further perspectives on the cucumber market, as the dramatically increased demand from the side of processors influences very much the fresh market of cucumbers too.
