The harvesting of the early table grape started in Zakarpattya and Crimea
According to the information provided by the experts of the Agricultural Marketing Project, the harvesting of early varieties of table grape started in Crimea and Zakarpattya. Grape ripened two weeks earlier in Zakarpattya than a year ago.
The producers inform that the harvest prospects are inspiring this year. The Agricultural Marketing Project made a tentative prognosis that the grape production will increase this year nearly 30%, and the forecast is being confirmed now. However, much depends on the yield of the late grape varieties, which constitute a large part of the gross production.
At the present moment early table grape is sold in retail on about USD 2/kg in Zakarpattya, competing to the Hungarian grape, which costs USD 2.4-2.8/kg. On the Farmer wholesale market in Kyiv the imported table grape, nicely packed, is sold on USD 2.4-2.6/kg, and the national grape of the average quality costs about USD 1/kg.
