The bulk sets of bulb onion can be purchased on USD 0.1/kg in the southern regions of Odesa oblast
The price decrease on onion goes on the markets of Odesa oblast, which is the largest onion producer in the country. The onion producers for Odesa oblast are among the first to supply the newly harvested commodities to the country markets.
The wholesale price on bulb onion decreased down to USD 0.12-0.14/kg past week, still the supply continues growing. According to the information provided by Dmitriy Chernyak, the Market Information Specialist of Odesa office, Agricultural Marketing Project, this week there have been messages about the sales of the large bulk sets of onion on USD 0.1/kg on terms of self-delivery from the field. The wholesale price on this commodity in Kyiv and the western regions of Ukraine reaches USD 0.2-0.24/kg.
According to the tentative assessments of the specialists of the Agricultural Marketing Project, the onion acreage increased 10-15% this year, and the production is expected to be on a little lower level than a year ago.
