In January-August Ukrainian seaports handled 4.417 mln t of grains and products
In January-August 2005 Ukrainian seaports handled 4.417 mln t of grains and processing products, which is 85 percent ahead of the amount handled in the same months of last year, an APK-Inform reporter was told by press-service of State Association "Ukrmorport" (Ukrainian Seaport). The amount includes 3.995 million tonnes of grains, up 93 percent from the same months of last year.
Of all the handled cargos, there were 3.527 million tonnes of grains and products shipped for export, which is 70 percent up from the amount of export shipments in January-August 2004 (2.059 million tonnes). Export caroglow shared 80 percent of the total shipments of grains and products.
Thereof there were 3.156 million tonnes of grains exported, which is nearly twice the amount of grains exported over the first eight months of 2004 (1.41 million tonnes). Exported grains took 79 percent of the total amount of grains handled over the period.
The ports also handled 867,300 tonnes of transit grain and products, the amount being tripled from January-August 2004 (284,800 tonnes). Transits took up 19.5 percent of all the grains and products handled over the period.
Out of the transited products there were 818,800 tonnes of grains, which is also nearly three times the volume transited in the first 8 months of 2004. The share of grain transits in total grain handling was 20.5 percent.
Twenty two thousand one hundred tonnes of grains and products, whereof 21,000 tonnes of grains, were carried by sea inside the country, which is 0.4 (0.5 percent) of total grain cargo shipments within the period.
Ukrmorport informed the amounts of grains and products (whereof grains) in tonnes handled by particular ports to have been as follows:
Reni port - 182,400 (182,400), Ust-Dunaisky port - 202,000 (202,000), Belgorod-Dnestrovsky port - 6,500 (6,500), Ilyichevsk port - 1,003,600 (1,003,600), Odessa port - 1,387,200 (1,387,200), Nikolaev port - 344,600 (327,600), Kherson port - 587,300 (448,900), Skadovsk port - 15,600 (9,200), Feodosia port - 10,400 (10,400), Kerch port - 282,600 (255,800), Berdyansk port - 153,300 (65,400), Mariupol port - 201,500 (56,600), Izmail port - 39,700 (39,700).
