Ukraine-US poultry deadlock
Interfax Ukraina reported that Mar 21 meeting between a US delegation making a special tour to Ukraine and Russia left the problem of US poultry ban in Ukraine at a standstill. Since Jan 1st, 2002 US poultry has been banned from importing in Ukraine and remains such still.
Mr. Petro Verbytskyi, the Veterinary Medicine Department Chief at MinAP explained the uncompromising position of Ukraine through inability of the US side to meet the Ukrainian requirements: not to apply antibiotics and microbe killing substances during production and processing.
Negotiations may continue if the above-mentioned requirements are met, said Verbytskyi.
