During the recent month the majority of the products from the produce group continued to cheapen
According to the data of the retail price monitoring on Ukrainian markets, conducted by the Agricultural Marketing Project, during the past 30 days the majority of fruits and vegetables continued cheapening. The price on potato decreased but not till the level expected this time of the year - only on 7%. Moreover, the price started to grow because of the insufficient potato supplies. Cabbage cheapened 27% in average during this month, the main reason for that was the supplies of late cabbage on market. The price on onion remained stable enough though it differs much according to the region. In the whole the insignificant price decrease on onion on 6% was observed. Carrot cheapened 12%. The same price decrease is observed for red beets too. The price on cucumber dropped down considerably, on 25%; mostly this fact is connected with the supplies of cucumbers harvested from the transplants which were planted late. Marketable apples cheapened too, and the supply of this commodity increased much. The price decrease on apples constituted 18% in average.
Garlic grew expensive 24% as a result of the increased demand from the processors' side. The price on squash increased 30%.
No significant price changes for meat, eggs, and dairy products have been observed during the mentioned period. Sugar cheapened 18% in average on the retail markets.
