EU might soon establish free trade regime with Ukraine in some kinds of foods and agriproducts - an expert
Free trade regime between EU and Ukraine might be established for some kinds of agricultural products in a short run already, said Chief Expert for the European Centre of Prospective Research Michael Emerson at a meeting with the head of Ukraine's Agrarian Confederation Leonid Kozachenko.
In the first turn, the list of these products may include grains, sunflower oil, sugar and alcoholic beverages, Emerson was reported as saying. As regards the other group of products, comprising livestock products, canned foods, wines and semi-alcoholic drinks - these may start to be supplied from Ukraine to the EU in a free trade regime only after Ukrainian technical regulations and standards on these products are amended to meet the EU requirements. This may take both time and financial assistance on the part of the EU, Emerson said.
