Ukraine: parliament turned off 2006 budget

Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine overruled Thursday in the second reading the draft State Budget of Ukraine for 2006. The draft budget was voted favourably by only 274 deputies. The bill has been thus returned to government for improvements.

The government has been commissioned to make improvements into the Budget, with account of budgetary conclusions of the parliament, and to table it back into Verkhovna Rada in a 7-day term.

The speaker Volodymyr Litvin said that the draft budget would be for the second time considered in second reading in a two-week term.
