Ukraine's Produce Business is Busy Getting Ready for December 5th
The produce business of Ukraine is actively preparing for the second international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2005". The conference begins in the capital of Ukraine on Monday, December 5th, at the Expocenter of Ukraine National Complex. Virtually all successful Ukrainian producing, processing and trade enterprises have registered for participation in this event, as well as 50 participants from other countries. Polish companies will be extensively represented at the conference, as many are very interested in prospective opportunities available in the Ukrainian fruit and vegetable business.
According to organizers' evaluations, about 130 agricultural producers will participate in the event; they are most successful fruit and vegetable producers who cultivate acreage of more than 10,000 ha in total. There will also be up to 100 representatives from produce wholesale trade companies (both Ukrainian and foreign), as well as representatives from the largest supermarket chains. We are pleased to mention that Franco-Terminal company has decided to sponsor the conference; this company has shown ambitions in the produce market as one of the most rapidly developing wholesale companies.
The gathering of such a immense number of suppliers and buyers in one place will be effective means for networking as the producers will have plenty of chances to find buyers, and the wholesalers will be able to diversify fresh produce purchase channels, as well as extend their assortment. To encourage the process, the organizers will have conference rooms available.
Input supply companies, such as suppliers of modern post harvest handling (PHH) equipment, storage, packing and even processing technologies of fruits and vegetables will be widely represented at the conference. Lack of post harvest handling technologies and a severe deficit of long-term fruit and vegetable storing capacities negatively affects the development of the produce business in Ukraine. Large and medium processing enterprises will also significantly represented at the conference. Olvita company sponsors the event as one of the largest producers of freshly packed salads and frozen vegetables, fruits and berries. Many of the Ukrainian processors produce raw materials themselves and some of them also trade fruits and vegetables in wholesale. Others are actively developing raw material zones. The conference will be interesting for everyone, as about 400 people have registered to participate in the event!
