Spanish Strawberry Growers Rely on Ukrainian Workers
Strawberry producers near Huelva, in Andalusia province, Spain, expect 35,000 workers to come for the harvest season. Strawberries will be harvested earlier this year thanks to favorable weather conditions. Mild weather has let strawberries ripen earlier than usual and more than 30,000 tons of strawberries are planned to be harvested there. Groups of specialty contract pickers arrived this Monday, most from Ukraine, Romania, Poland and Morocco, according to Freshplaza.
