Cattle number in Ukraine dropping, hog and poultry - growing
In January 2006 the cattle number in Ukraine continued to drop. Thus, as of February 1 the number of cattle in all categories of farms was 6.57 million heads - down 5.7 percent from the year-ago figure, Ukraine's statistical body has said.
The cow herd dropped 7.8 percent from year ago - to 3.64 million heads.
However, the pig head in Ukraine increased 11 percent year-on-year - to 7.03 million heads.
The poultry growth dynamics in Ukraine has been also retained. As of February 1 the number of poultry, kept by poultry-breeding enterprises was 153,360 heads - up 6.3 percent from the year-ago data.
