Italy instead of Volyn oblast: Zakarpattya changed potato supplier

This year Volyn potato is absent on Ukrainian markets unlike the previous years, when potato supply was significant. This information was provided by Lyudmila Dzyamko, the Market Information Specialist of Zakarpattya office, Agricultural Marketing Project. "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal has informed several times that Volyn potato producers have run out of stocks earlier than usual because of poor potato harvest 2005; so, the demand exceeds the supply much. Moreover, in some queer cases Volyn oblast wholesalers purchased potato in Zakarpattya.

Local potato is mostly sold on Uzhgorod city markets; imported potato is supplied too on 2 - 2.5 times higher price. There is Italian (as vendors say) potato worth $ 1.17/kg supplied on market, and even Egyptian potato.
