Apricot trees started to bloom 10 days later than usual in Odesa oblast

The orchardists of the southern rayons of Odesa oblast inform that apricot trees have started to bloom recently. Usually apricot trees start to bloom mid or late March.

This year the cold winter and the rather cool spring have delayed about two weeks the blooming period for fruit trees.

However, unlike early vegetable crops which are ripening later than usual this year too, later fruit trees blooming does not mean that fruits will ripen later as well.

The orchardists refer to the experience 2004 and say that everything depends on the average daily temperatures during the next two months. Still, we can say with a great probability that locally produced fruits will hit the market later than usual this season.
