You can buy vegetables twice cheaper in Poland than in Ukraine

The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal inform that vegetable prices in Ukraine remain significantly higher than in the neighboring Poland despite of the recently observed vegetable price decrease in our country. So we should not be surprised with the present vegetable supply growth from Poland to Ukrainian market.

The greatest difference of Ukrainian and Polish prices is observed for Pekinese cabbage. The prices on this product on Kyiv wholesale market FARMER exceed thrice the prices on Warsaw wholesale market BRONISHE. A significant price difference has been also recorded for white cabbage and onion: these products are 2.2 and 2.1 times respectively more expensive in Ukraine. You can buy red beets $0.24/kg on BRONISHE market and $0.39/kg on Kyiv wholesale market. Potato prices are in average 43% higher in Kyiv than in Warsaw.

Only greenhouse tomatoes cost 35% less in Ukraine than in Poland. According to the information of the Price Monitoring Service of the Agricultural Marketing Project, a rather modest price for greenhouse tomato can be explained by the constant competition from the side of Turkish tomato; it is regularly imported to the Ukrainian market. Greenhouse cucumbers of Ukrainian origin are sold 45% more expensive in Kyiv than Polish cucumbers on Warsaw wholesale market.
