Cucumber and tomato prices decreased abruptly

According to the data of daily wholesale price monitoring, conducted by "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, cucumber price has decreased nearly twice this weekend. Tomato price dropped down 30% in average.

Cucumber price decreased on $0.35-0.39/kg in Kyiv, or more than 50% comparing to past Friday's prices. Today cucumbers cost around $0.29-0.35/kg in Kyiv; the majority of sellers set the price on level of $0.31/kg. Cucumber price declined even more on KOPANI market in Kherson oblast. Today this commodity costs $0.19-0.25/kg there. Past Friday cucumbers cost $0.54/kg on KOPANI market.

The wholesale tomato prices declined under influence of growing supply from small farms which compete with large greenhouse complexes and imported produce as well. The share of imported tomato started to reduce quite quickly. As of today, tomato price is $1.07-1.27/kg on Kyiv market that is 25-30% lower than the price recorded past Friday. Tomato price reduced down to $0.88-0.98/kg on KOPANI market in Kherson oblast; the price decrease is estimated to be 30-35%.
