Zakarpattya canneries start cucumber processing

Some Zakarpattya canneries started to purchase cucumber for processing. Starting price for pickle cucumber is $ 0.39/kg, cornichon price is $ 0.29/kg, and price for larger cucumbers is $ 0.08/kg. Farmers say they mostly sell cucumber produced in film greenhouses or under agrifiber. It is an untypical situation for the region when cucumbers from agrifiber forcing frames are supplied for processing. Weather played its great role here, as unfavorable conditions hindered vegetation of field cucumbers. In some cases cucumbers were replanted for several times, as "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal reported past week. According to Valentina Polyak, the Leader of "Dary Beregivschyny" cooperative of cucumber producers, field cucumbers will start to be actively supplied on market in two weeks.

Increased cucumber supply in the region and utilization of advanced agricultural technologies let the producers increase gross cucumber harvest comparing to the previous year. The purchase price was influenced by this fact as well. Past year the price for pickle cucumber reached $ 0.68/kg.
