This year the prices for major vegetables are lower than at the same period of time in 2005
"Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal monitors vegetable prices on wholesale markets of Ukraine; according to the data of price monitoring, major vegetables are cheaper this year than at the same period of time in 2005.
For example, cabbage is one third as cheap (i.e. $0.03-0.05/kg in average) comparing to September 2005. Bell pepper is nearly twice as cheap (the price is in average $0.29/kg lower in Kyiv). Tomato prices are $0.03-0.05/kg lower today. Short cucumber has gone twofold cheaper down to $0.39/kg: this commodity cost $0.78/kg past year.
Squash, egg-plant, table beet, cucurbits crops are less expensive this year as well.
Talking about price growth, potato is now more expensive (the price increased on $0.15/kg), as well as bulb onion ($0.03-0.05/kg more expensive).
Carrot price is somewhat higher this year in Kyiv; at the same time, carrot supply has increased on the South of the country, and the price has dropped down respectively.
