Cucumber prices have increased 2-2.5 times in Crimea since recent week
According to information provided by Crimean office of the Agricultural Marketing Project, a stable price growth for cucumbers has been observed during this week in the Republic. As of today, the retail price has reached $0.98-1.37/kg. This price is 2-2.5 times higher comparing to the previous week.
A rapid price jump can be explained by gradually reducing supply of field cucumbers as a result of cold weather. And, the significant fluctuations of day and night temperatures (5-9 Co at night and up to 20 Co daytime) affected the plants too by the diseases. The shipments of greenhouse cucumbers have been reduced too, cause most of greenhouses are non-heated.
We expect the price for greenhouse cucumber to grow further.
