High prices for commercial apple result in deficit of the national apple concentrate
According to information provided by the specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, processing enterprises prefer apple concentrate of the national origin.
At the present moment both national and Chinese apple concentrate is offered on market. Market players noted that the national concentrate was sold for €900-1000/ton; Chinese commodities were offered for less than €800/ton.
The specialists of the processing enterprises stated that the acidity of the national concentrate is normal, but Chinese concentrate pH needs to be additionally increased. It means a longer period of the concentrate treatment.
In these circumstances the owners of the national concentrate slow down sales in hope for the further price growth.
The competition has significantly increased on the inner market of apple concentrate because of poor apple harvest this season. At the same time, market players speak about limited quantity of the national concentrate that means the possible significant increase of import supplies of this commodity in 2006.
