Supermarkets' share of fresh produce sales will exceed 70%, bazars share will reduce down to 25% in Kyiv before the New Year holidays

The increase of the supermakets' share of the fresh produce sales has been observed during several recent years in Ukraine. However, to the opinion of Andriy Yarmak, the Deputy Director of the Agricultural Marketing Project of Ukraine, these New Year holidays the share of fresh produce sales in supermarkets will exceed the bazar's share for the first time in the history.

According to the preliminary estimations, the supermarkets' share in fresh produce sales will be around 60% in Ukrainian cities with the population of around 1 mln. people and more. It is worth mentioning that the bazars' share will continue decreasing; it will be not more than 25%. If we estimate the value of sales, the supermarkets' share will be even greater.

The specialists are sure that this trend will be observed in the coming years. The sales of fresh fruits and vegetables through bazars and outlets will become a seasonal business in large cities of the country during five coming years.
