Produce trade becomes active after the New Year holidays on the eve of Christmas

The sales volumes of fresh produce have significantly increased on January 5th on FARMER wholesale produce market in Kyiv. According to information provided by Anatoliy Yarovoy, the Price Monitoring Specialist of the Agricultural Marketing Project, the growth of the quantity of buyers exceeded the quantity of vendors. As a result, the prices for most "demanded" vegetables increased; in particular it concerns greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes.

To the specialists' opinion, the burst of activity in fruit and vegetable wholesale trade is predetermined by the increased demand on the eve of Orthodox Christmas. The demand for fresh fruits and vegetables will go down significantly for some time after the Christmas holidays. This trend is usually accompanied by the decrease of the average prices.
