Polish company Hortex will construct produce freezing plant in Russia

According to information provided by Freshplaza.com, Polish company Hortex made decision to construct a plant in Russia. This company has been keeping a steady leading position on Russian market of frozen vegetables, fruits and berries for several years already.

Tomasz Kurpicz, the President of "Hortex" company, said that the decision to construct own production facility proceeded from a fast growth of Russian market comparing to the growth rates of the markets of EU countries. To his opinion, Russian market annually grows 25%; at the same time, EU market annually increases only 3-5%.

On the fist stage Hortex company plans to import frozen fruits and vegetables from Poland, which will be then packed in consumer packages. Next step will be to launch produce freezing lines in Russia. According to information of the company representatives, the plant will start working in 2-3 years. However, the company has not determined yet the most feasible location of the plant.

To the opinion of Andriy Yarmak, the Deputy Director of the Agricultural Marketing Project, raw materials will be the key problem to define the place for the plant construction. Even after the flash freezing tunnels have been launched, a part of produce should be still imported from Poland to provide a stable assortment of the quality produce. Recently a growing number of companies has been inquiring the Project analysts about the definition and development of raw material zones with the account to the possibilities of the ready product marketing.
