The holidays are over in Ukraine; the demand for greenhouse produce declines

The after-holiday demand decrease led to the reconsideration of the sales prices for greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers downwards. The specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal reported that tomato prices have decreased more than 40% on Kyiv FARMER market. At the present moment an average price level is $1.37/kg. In the beginning of the week tomato cost $2.35/kg. Also, the specialists pointed out an insignificant decrease of the sales price for cucumber down to $2.15/kg.

The specialists forecast that in future the prices will stay stable or will be reconsidered upwards. This situation will be preserved at least till the moment when first large shipments of national greenhouse produce enter the market. The national producers say that they are intended to supply first shipments of their produce mid February 2007.
